Experiences and Interests

NASA DEVELOP - Jet Propulsion Laboratory

In my previous role at NASA DEVELOP, I investigated the effects of tree canopy cover on heat mitigation in Los Angeles, which gave me a valuable perspective on the intersection of urban planning and environmental sustainability. During the 10-week project at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, I had an excellent opportunity to develop my geospatial toolkit, and working alongside a group of three scientists who shared my interests greatly improved my collaborative and team building skills.

Assessing Heat Vulnerability in Olympia, WA

My work as a volunteer scientist at Thriving Earth Exchange involved studying the distribution of extreme heat impacts in Olympia. The main objective of this project was to gain a better understanding of how vulnerable populations are affected by extreme heat. To support the science team's efforts, Dr. Anamika Shreevastava and I were responsible for providing remote sensing products that analyzed temperature and vegetation distribution in the area. Find out more on the project page.

Remote Sensing Research Group at the University of Oregon

During my time at the University of Oregon, I participated in a hydrology focused remote sensing lab group with 4 graduate and PhD students working on a variety of research projects. We participate in weekly lab meetings hosted by Dr. Johnny Ryan and Dr. Sarah Cooley. I worked specifically on a project to detect interactions of the Greenland Ice Sheet with proglacial lakes using remote sensing.

Study Abroad Program in Oviedo, Spain

For the summer months of 2021 and 2022, I studied in the northern region of Asturias, Spain, taking part in an intensive Spanish immersion program. I received a C1 Spanish level certificate from the Universidad de Oviedo. It was an unforgettable experience where I stayed with a host family and met many friends that I continue to keep in contact with.

Music

From a young age, I have been drawn to music. I have taken lessons for the piano, mandolin, trombone, and bass guitar, and I love to compose music in my free time. Click below to hear a song that I wrote.
